An Australian man has caught on camera the extraordinary moment a Huntsman spider drags a mouse up the side of a fridge.

The footage, shot by Jason Womal, of Queensland, shows an oversized Huntsman with what appears to be a mouse attached to its chelicerae.

Mr Womal, who posted the video on Facebook this weekend, said that he was leaving for work in the early hours of the morning when his neighbour approached him and asked if he wanted to “see something cool”.

“So we proceed to his place and he shows me this. Huntsman trying to eat a mouse” Mr Womal wrote on Facebook.

In the video you can hear one man say "what's he going to do with him? Man that is so cool."

Warning; this footage contains some strong language

The video has had over 9 million views and 150,000 shares on Facebook.

Later Mr Womal posted on his account that the spider is unharmed.

He wrote on Facebook: “Ok guys just letting you all know that the spider is fine. We have named him Hermie, we have adopted him and he is now running his own extermination business out of our town Coppabella. Oh and he is now paying rent. Lol.”
