Country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus appeared to make an online blunder after he re-tweeted a photograph of notorious paedophile Jimmy Savile.

The Achy Breaky Heart singer, who has 1.72 million followers, posted the image after receiving a tweet from another user reading: “Hi pal, it’s my Granddad’s birthday today and he’s a huge fan. He’d love a RT!”

It seems Mr Cyrus, father of Miley Cyrus, is unaware of his mistake as the message was still on his timeline this morning.

Thousands of Twitter users have responded to the mistake and have sent the musician more images of Mr Savile. Some people have deemed the message offensive and have sent requests asking for Mr Cyrus to remove it.

Earlier this week Donald Trump was the victim of a similar prank after a picture of Fred and Rose West was re-tweeted on his official account.

The Twitter troll sent the billionaire a message asking for a re-tweet for his “parents who passed away”.
