Bizarre moment Russians attempt to cross vehicle-only bridge in cardboard bus costume

Tom Powell14 November 2018

This was the bizarre moment four people attempted to cross a vehicle-only bridge in Russia by dressing up as a bus.

Footage shows the group hiding inside a yellow cardboard bus costume as they walk across the Golden Bridge in the far eastern port city of Vladivostok.

In the clip, taken by a baffled motorist, they can be seen walking alongside trucks and cars down the middle of the bridge, which crosses the Golden Horn Bay.

But they do not get far before a security guard apprehends them and sends the group back in the direction they came from.

They continue walking back off the bridge wearing the cardboard bus costume, which is complete with wheels and windows.

The striking Golden Bridge is one of the most popular tourist sites in Vladivostok, but has been closed to pedestrians since 2015.

The cable-stayed bridge was opened in 2012, linking the centre of the city to the Pervomaisky district.

But residents have recently hit out at the ban on pedestrians, claiming they are being denied access to the shortest route into the centre.
