A 14-year-old boy who was attacked by a crocodile checked his GoPro camera and found he had filmed the animal moments before he was bitten.
Teenager Cameron Timms was swimming with his parents in Australia when he was bitten by the freshwater crocodile.
Footage from his camera shows the animal swimming just centimetres from him and his family in the moments leading up to the attack.
He told the Kimberly Echo: “We were just standing in a group (in the water) and I was swimming through the middle when all of a sudden I felt something on the side of me.
“I realised I was bleeding, I went into a bit of shock and didn’t know what was going on.”
Cameron was not seriously injured but has puncture wounds on his stomach and elbow and has been treated with antibiotics.
It was not until later that day that he watched the GoPro footage and realised how close the crocodile has been swimming to them.
“I had the GoPro on to see if anything cool was happening underwater and it captured the croc swimming around,” he added.
Cameron’s dad Mark Timms said the “freakiest” thing was that the family did not notice the crocodile swimming through their legs.
He said: “It swam right through the middle of us and we never saw a thing.
“It brushed past myself and my wife and we both thought someone had accidentally kicked us.”
The family were swimming in Moonhsine Gorge, a popular swimming spot in Western Australia’s Kimberly region.
