British man is stabbed to death in Barbados 'after altercation with local man'

A British man has died after being stabbed to death in Barbados.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was stabbed in the chest yesterday morning after he was allegedly involved in an altercation with a local man.

Police rushed him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Bridgetown, where he died shortly afterwards.

The stabbing took place in St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church, at 5.30am, according to newspaper Barbados Today.

Police said the victim, who has not yet been named, was an employee of LIME – a leading telecommunications company in the Caribbean.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: “We are aware of the death of a British national in Barbados on June 15.

“We are providing consular assistance to the family at this sad time.'
