Car plunges seven floors off multi-storey ‘after driver presses wrong pedal’

Sebastian Mann12 August 2017

This was the dramatic moment a BMW fell seven floors from a multi-storey car park onto a stopped vehicle beneath.

Both drivers narrowly escaped serious injuries when the car ploughed through barriers, flew into a building opposite and then plunged into an alleyway in Austin, Texas.

Police said the driver of the BMW mistook the accelerator for the brake pedal.

She was taken to hospital but is not thought to have suffered serious injuries in the July 13 crash.

The driver of the other car, an SUV, suffered no injuries.

The incident mirrors a similar one last year when a 24-year-old man crashed through barriers on the top level of the same car park.

His SUV was caught by wiring and left hanging precariously while a bystander helped him to escape the vehicle.
