Christine Blasey Ford is still unable to live at home because of the "unending" death threats she has received following her testimony on Brett Kavanaugh, her lawyer has said.

Dr Ford came forward with an allegation of sexual assault against Mr Kavanaugh earlier this year, in the lead up to his being appointed to the US Supreme Court.

This led to Mr Kavanaugh and Dr Ford testifying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee and an FBI investigation into the allegation.

In September, her lawyers said Dr Ford was forced out of her home by threats and harassment after going public with the allegation, which she claimed happened at a party she and Mr Kavanaugh attended in the 1980s.

And in an interview with MSNBC on Sunday, Dr Ford's lawyer Debra Katz said she is still not living at home and would not be able to for "quite some time".

Ms Katz said: “Her [Dr Ford’s] family has been through a lot. They are not living at home. It’s going to be quite some time before they are able to live at home.

“The threats have been unending. It's deplorable. It’s been very frightening."

However, in addition to these kinds of messages, Ms Katz also said her client had received “extraordinary letters of support and encouragement”.

Thousands protested against Mr Kavanaugh’s nomination following Dr Ford’s testimony.

Despite the furore, Conservative judge Mr Kavanaugh was sworn in as a US Supreme Court justice after a historic and divisive Senate vote on Saturday.

In the final vote approving his nomination Mr Kavanaugh's selection was cleared by a narrow margin of 50-48.

Mr Kavanaugh has denied all sexual misconduct allegations against him.
