Debbie Reynolds has been rushed to hospital with a ‘possible stroke’ the day after her daughter Carrie Fisher’s death, US media have said.

The 84-year-old American actress was raced to hospital in Los Angeles on Wednesday, according to celebrity news website TMZ.

She was at her son Todd Fisher’s house planning Ms Fisher’s funeral when she became ill, the website reported.

Ms Fisher died on Tuesday, four days after she suffered a cardiac arrest on a transatlantic flight from London to Los Angeles.

The 60-year-old Star Wars star was being treated in intensive care in Los Angeles when she died.

In a tribute, her mother had said: “Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter.

“I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop."

Ms Fisher was born in Beverly Hills, California to Ms Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher, who also found fame hosting his own television show.

Ms Reynolds is famous for her role as Kathy Seldon in Singin’ in the Rain and her breakout role was as Helen Kane in the 1950 film Three Little Words.
