Demi Lovato: Singer 'awake and with family' after 'being rushed to hospital' from her Hollywood home

Demi Lovato is awake and surrounded by her family after being rushed to hospital in Los Angeles, it has been reported.

Police were called to the American singer’s Hollywood home after she had fallen ill just before midday on Tuesday.

The reason for the star being taken to hospital was not immediately clear and her family have warned against speculation.

A representative for Lovato said: “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support.

"Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now."

Mars wrote: "Sending love and prayers to Demi Lovato,” and Grande simply said: "I love you".

Chat show host Ellen DeGeneres wrote on Twitter: "I love @DDLovato so much. It breaks my heart that she is going through this.

"She is a light in this world, and I am sending my love to her and her family."

Camila Cabello tweeted: "You're in my thoughts @ddlovato, sending you love."

Singer Lily Allen added: "Poor beautiful spirit @ddlovato I hope she’s ok, and that she makes a full recovery soon."

Lovato's fellow Disney child star, Ashley Tisdale, tweeted: "Thinking of you @ddlovato. Sending you so much love."

An LAPD spokesman earlier said officers were called to an address in Hollywood at around 11am local time.

They said the patient, a 25-year-old female, was in the process of being taken to hospital when they arrived and is in a stable condition.

Police did not at the time confirm the identity of the patient.

Lovato has spoken openly about cocaine and alcohol abuse in the past but last month released a song called Sober saying she had relapsed after six years of sobriety.

She shot to fame on Disney Channel shows Camp Rock and Sonny with a Chance 10 years ago, and went on to forge a pop career with hits like Sorry Not Sorry and Cool for the Summer.

In her June song Sober she sings: "Momma, I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore."

The Standard has approached Lovato's representatives for further comment.
