EA is donating $1million to the victims of Jacksonville shooting

The Electronics Arts gaming company has pledged to donate $1 million to the victims of last week’s shooting at an NFL Madden tournament

The shooting took place in Florida last Sunday and resulted in the death of two gamers, Elijah Clayton, 22 and Taylor Robertson, 27 as well as injuries among 11 people.

The 3 remaining tournaments that were scheduled for the day were cancelled due to the shooting.

EA announced it would be giving the money in a tweet promoting its Jacksonville Tribute Fund and Livestream.

EA have also spoken about their work on setting up a fund where others can contribute alongside their donation.

EA said in a statement on twitter: “We would also like to help by bringing the gaming community together, and uniting in play, through the Jacksonville Tribute Livestream next Thursday, September 6.”

EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the company would run “a comprehensive review of safety protocols for competitors and spectators” following the tragedy.
