Essay by dying US baseball fan wins him a free funeral

An American baseball team has given away a free funeral service to a dying fan as part of a competition.

US team the Lehigh Valley IronPigs offered the free funeral as a prize to the winner of an essay contest.

Fans were asked to write a 200-word essay about their ideal funeral. 50 people applied.

The winner was Steve Paul, 64.

The $10,000 funeral package comes with a casket, embalming or cremation, a hearse, a headstone, flowers and a funeral or memorial service.
