‘Large gaps’ remain after PM’s Brexit trade talks in Brussels

Large gaps remain between the UK and EU in reaching a Brexit deal, Downing Street has said following the crunch talks between Boris Johnson and Ursula von der Leyen.

The Prime Minister and European Commission president agreed that a "firm decision" about the future of the negotiations should be made by Sunday.

In a statement following a three-hour long dinner in Brussels, a senior Number 10 source said it was "unclear" whether the differences between the two sides could be bridged.

Travellers to EU ‘face coronavirus curbs after Brexit transition period ends’

UK travel to the Europe will be restricted after the Brexit transition period expires at the end of the month due to Covid-19 rules, it has been reported.

Most UK residents could face restrictions on visiting the remaining 27 members of the EU from January 1 when rules permitting free travel within the bloc cease to apply to Britons.

Italian football great and World Cup winner Paolo Rossi dies aged 64

Paolo Rossi, the hero of Italy's 1982 World Cup-winning campaign, has died at the age of 64.

News of the former football star’s death was announced on Thursday by Italian TV channel RAI Sport, for whom Rossi had been working as a pundit.

"Such terribly sad news: Paolo Rossi has left us," said RAI Sport presenter Enrico Varriale, who did not disclose the cause of death.

Former Strictly stars praise BBC over show’s drag performance

Former Strictly Come Dancing stars Michelle Visage and Catherine Tyldesley have sided with the BBC over its stance on a drag performance that aired during the celebrity dancing competition.

On Saturday, three of the BBC One show’s male professional dancers wore wigs and high heels while performing a medley of songs from the musical Priscilla Queen Of The Desert.

On Wednesday the BBC said in a statement the programme is an “inclusive show” as it defended the routine.
