A four-year-old girl slipped out of her house in the middle of the night and hopped on a bus where she chanted: "All I want is slushie."

Authorities in Philadelphia said the young girl's family had no idea she had awoken and unlocked their back door to brave the rain in a quest to find her favourite snack.

Wearing a purple raincoat, Annabelle is seen boarding the bus and swinging her legs as she sits on a seat.

Bus driver Harlan Jenifer said she could be heard chanting: "All I want is a slushie."

The father-of-three, who stopped and set about reuniting the child with her mother, told US media: "She knew exactly where she was going so she had to have travelled that route before.

"I was like you've got to be kidding me - not this time at night."
