Moment herd of goats break free and take over streets in San Jose

This is the moment a herd of giddy goats are seen hurtling through a neighbourhood in California.

The tribe of inquisitive goats were spotted on the streets in east San Jose on Tuesday evening.

Using quad bikes and cars, neighbours can be seen trying to herd the animals up, but some take a moment to smell the roses and have a nibble at plants and flowers in front gardens.

Terry Roelands, who caught the goats on film, said a nearby hill caught on fire about 15 years ago and since then, they use animals a few times a year to clear the brush, NBC reports.

He said one of the goats was eating flowers over a fence, which caused the boards to break.

"When I got back from the store all the goats had broken through the fence and were wreaking havoc on our street," Mr Roeland's son, Zach, said on Twitter.

"This is the craziest thing to happen all quarantine."

Eventually, with the help of a resident's dog, the naughty goats were escorted back to their home.

In March, in the UK, wild Kashmiri goats were spotted wandering freely through Llandudno's deserted streets, nibbling at hedges and springtime gardens as they go.

The animals typically spend their time grazing on the heights of the nearby Great Orme headland, but with fewer people out and about amid the coronavirus lockdown, some think the creatures have been drawn into the town by little more than inquisitiveness

"They are curious, goats are, and I think they are wondering what's going on like everybody else," town councillor Carol Marubbi told the BBC.

"There are very few visitors on the top [of the Orme], so they have come down in their droves.

"There isn't anyone else around so they probably decided they may as well take over."
