Hawaii volcano: Evacuations ordered after days of eruptions

1/69

Evacuations have been ordered after Hawaii's Kilauea volcano released lava into a residential area following days of earthquakes.

Red lava emerged on Mohala Street in the Leilani Estates subdivision, Hawaii County spokeswoman Janet Snyder said on Friday.

The eruption comes after days of earthquakes rocked the Puna district of the Big Island.

Earlier this week, the crater floor of the Puu Oo vent collapsed, causing magma to push more than 10 miles downslope toward the populated south-east coastline of the island.
