Two chefs from Heston Blumenthal's Michelin-starred restaurant The Fat Duck have been killed in a road accident in Hong Kong.

The death of the two staff members in the incident involving a taxi and two double decker buses has been confirmed by the restaurant in Bray, Berkshire.

A spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that two members of Heston Blumenthal's culinary team were tragically killed in a car accident in Hong Kong.

"They were both senior members and great and dear friends. Two uniquely talented young chefs that were loved by everyone who worked with them. They will be sadly and deeply missed."

The BBC reported that the two men, one British and the other from Sweden, were travelling in the taxi when the accident happened yesterday. They were in the city to open a new restaurant.

The report adds that one of the double decker buses lost control and hit several other vehicles including the taxi and the other bus.

As well as the two chefs, the driver of the taxi was killed and another 50 people were injured.
