A TV journalist based in Washington D.C. has won plaudits for his reporting — after delivering dispatches in six different languages.

Philip Crowther, an international Affiliate reporter for the Associated Press GMS, which provides broadcast facilities and editorial support to TV networks, published a montage of his polyglottal broadcasts on Twitter.

In the video, Mr Crowther can be heard speaking in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Luxembourgish.

He had been reporting on a rally Donald Trump held for Republican Senate candidates in Georgia, and later from Washington D.C. as rioters stormed the Capitol.

The reporter, who is also a White House correspondent for France 24, was born in Luxembourg to a British father and German mother.

His his website says that he is “a native speaker of English, German and Luxembourgish as well as a fluent speaker of French, Spanish and Portuguese.”

BBC producer and reporter Charlie Haynes wrote: this is SUCH a flex, reporting fluently in 6 different languages. I dream of being this talented.”

The corporation’s diplomatic correspondent James Lansdale tweeted: “This is impressive. I sometimes find it hard enough to make sense in one language. But six?”
