London comes close to bottom of a league table for guest satisfaction at hotel during the festive season.

The city's accommodation came 33rd out of 37 major cities across the globe for value for money.

And it comes bottom out of the six major cities surveyed within the UK.

Eastern European destinations topped the list, with Prague heading up the table, boasting a score of 7.98 out of a possible 10.

It was followed closely by Lisbon with 7.95. Outside of Europe the hotels in Bangkok also scored well. The capital of Thailand was in ninth place with a score of 7.74.

Andreas Klug, Country Manager for the UK for hotel.info, which carried out the survey, said: “It’s an exciting time of year, which provides a great opportunity to get away and explore new cities.

"Our research will help Brits to understand where they should be heading on their shopping sprees this winter in order to get the most bang for their buck.

“The lure of London will be difficult to resist for shoppers, particularly since the excitement of the summer is still very much alive in the city.

"We all know it’s a costly time of year though, so where possible everyone’s looking to save and get the best deals.”
