A man who ran a "revenge porn" website and charged victims to remove their explicit photos has been jailed for 18 years.
Kevin Bollaert, from San Diego in California, operated the site ugotposted.com which hosted more than 10,000 images between December 2012 and 2013.
The photos were mainly sexually explicit images of women that were uploaded to the site without their permission by ex-partners.
US prosecutors said victims included teachers, wives and professionals and cost people jobs, damaged their relationships and led to one attempted suicide.
Bollaert, 28, made about $30,000 (£20,000) by charging victims up to $350 (£235) a time to remove the pictures, they said.
He was jailed for 18 years on Friday following his conviction in February for 21 counts of identity theft and six of extortion.
The landmark case was the first time a revenge porn "kingpin" has gone on trial in the US.
California attorney general Kamala Harris said the lengthy sentence shows there are severe consequences for exploiting people online.
Bollaert's conviction came in the same month that revenge porn - the sharing of sexually explicit images without a person's consent - was made a specific criminal offence in the UK.
The new offence was included in the Criminal Justice and Courts Act.
