Emilia Clarke is reportedly joining the cast of upcoming Marvel series Secret Invasion.

Sources told Variety that the Game Of Thrones star, 34, will pay a leading role in the upcoming Disney+ show - which will also star Samuel L Jackson as returning character Nick Fury.

It comes 24 hours after reports suggested Oscar winner Olivia Colman is also in talks to star in the show.

Little is known about Clarke’s character.

Little is also known about the show - other than it will focus on an alien race that have spent years living on earth.

It will be a sequel to the 2019 film Captain Marvel, where Jackson played a younger version of the recurring S.H.I.E.L.D agent.

The Hollywood Reporter suggests the show will focus on the agent Fury and a Skrull shapeshifter, played by Ben Mendelsohn.

Clarke is perhaps best known for her Emmy-nominated role as Daenerys Targaryen in the fantasy HBO series Game of Thrones. She’s also starred in Last Christmas, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Terminator Genisys.

She has also starred BBC soap Doctors - where she made her television debut.

The star said last year that she had one take to get the scene right - and that just as she entered a small room to film the scene, a member of the camera crew “let one rip”.

During an Edinburgh TV Festival event in 2020, she said: “On my first ever job, I was the guest lead in an episode of Doctors.

“There was a really small space and they were like, ‘OK, we have literally got time for one take, I’m really sorry Emilia, I know this is your debut on TV but we’ve got one take so don’t mess it up’.

“And I walk into this really small office and I’m meant to look shocked and alarmed and really upset about what I’m looking at. Just horrified.”

She said that as she walked in, a member of the camera crew “let one rip”.

Clarke added: “I was like, ‘We have got one take, just smell the smell’.”

The soap has featured appearances from a number of stars, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Jodie Comer, Eddie Redmayne, Nicholas Hoult and Claire Foy over the years.
