Michael Schumacher is "out of danger" and has been moved from an intensive care unit to a rehabilitation ward, according to reports in Germany.

The Formula One driver, who has been in a medically-induced coma since he had a horrific skiing crash in the French alps in December.

He remains in hospital in Grenoble, where he has been receiving treatment for severe brain injuries.

German magazine Bunte, which specialises in celebrity news, reported that he has been moved wards. It claimed that although he is "out of danger" his chances of making a full recovery have diminished.

The magazine also reported that preparations are underway for Schumacher to be moved from the Grenoble hospital into a specialist rehabilitation clinic.

Schumacher's manager, Sebine Kehm, has so far refused to comment on the report, after saying two months ago that he had shown "small, encouraging signs".

Former Formula One doctor, Dr Gary Hartstein, said recently: "I'm quite afraid, and virtually certain, we will never have any good news about Michael."
