A book containing explosive allegations about Donald Trump’s presidency is to be released early after lawyers attempted to block publication.

Michael Wolff’s ‘Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House’ is set to be made available on Friday – four days earlier than planned.

It comes after Mr Trump’s lawyers instructed the book's publisher to “immediately cease and desist from any further publication, release or dissemination of the book” in a legal notice.

White House aides were blindsided by early excerpts from the book which left Mr Trump "furious" and "disgusted", said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

She complained that the book contained "outrageous" and "completely false claims against the president, his administration and his family".

The book’s publisher, Henry Holt and Co, said it had brought forward the release date due to "unprecedented demand".

Mr Wolff tweeted: "Here we go. You can buy it (and read it) tomorrow. Thank you, Mr. President."

The new book is said to give a behind-the-scenes look at the tumultuous first months of the US president’s administration – and contains a string of embarrassing and potentially damaging claims.

These include allegations that Mr Trump goes to bed with a cheeseburger at 6.30pm and watches three televisions at once.

The book also alleges that he was scared of the White House and told staff not to touch anything — especially his toothbrush, because he reportedly fears being poisoned.

Mr Wolff, a contributing editor to The Hollywood Reporter, also alleges that Mr Trump tried to seduce the wives of his friends.

The book, due out on Tuesday, is said to be based on more than 200 interviews with confidants and senior White House staff.
