Militants dressed as policemen today attacked a NATO convoy in Pakistan carrying supplies to western forces in Afghanistan, killing four people.
In Monday’s attack, the militants emerged from the mountains and threw rockets at the NATO trucks, setting fire and completely burning two vehicles, according to local officials.
The militants, armed with assault rifles, wore local police uniforms and the four dead included truck drivers and their assistants, he said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but NATO supply trucks have been targeted by Pakistani Taliban and other militants for years.
The attack took place in the Jamrud area of the Khyber tribal region, through which runs the main route into Afghanistan for the supply trucks.
It comes as militants and security forces battled for four hours at Kabul airport.
Seven Taliban militants have been killed after carrying out a grenade and gun attack. They seized two buildings near the Afghan capital airport and fired on military facilities before being overwhelmed.
They did not breach the airport complex but all flights were cancelled or re-routed for several hours
Two suicide bombers blew themselves up and five other attackers were killed in fighting.
