Moment Donald Trump has terse exchange with male reporter who told him to take questions from female journalists

This is the moment Donald Trump had a terse exchange with a male reporter who told him to take questions from female journalists.

Mr Trump was speaking at a rare press conference in which he was answering testing questions about Brett Kavanaugh, his Supreme Court nominee who has been accused of sexual assault.

Jim Acosta, from the president’s hated CNN network, was picked by Mr Trump to ask a question at the New York conference.

But instead of going straight into his question about Mr Kavanaugh, Mr Acosta said: “If you don’t mind after I’m finished, one of our female colleagues could go after me, that would be great.”

A frowning Mr Trump then interrupted the reporter, asking: “What does he mean by that? Explain.”

The reporter started: “I think it would be great if a female reporter…”

But Mr Trump then cut him off again, asking: “What does he mean? No, what does it mean?”

Appearing to glare at the reporter, he then added: “I wouldn’t mind it at all. Wouldn’t make any difference to me.”

Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who accused Mr Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in 1982, will testify at a high-stakes Senate hearing on Thursday.

It could determine whether his nomination onto the Supreme Court is confirmed or rejected. Mr Kavanaugh denies the allegations and will also testify.
