Nigel Farage and Piers Morgan send congratulatory messages to Donald Trump after shock win

Nigel Farage and Piers Morgan have congratulated Donald Trump on his “astonishing achievement” at being elected President of the United States.

Mr Farage shared a video on Twitter of himself and Mr Trump joking about how the interim Ukip leader is "Mr Brexit” during a speech.

Republican Mr Trump is heard saying that, if he wins the election, he may "supersede" Mr Farage in being "number one Mr Brexit".

And following news of this morning's victory, Mr Farage wrote in the Tweet: “I hand over the mantle to @RealDonaldTrump! Many congratulations. You have fought a brave campaign.”

Broadcaster Morgan added: “Congratulations to my friend @realDonaldTrump – an astonishing achievement.”

Then, during the President-elect’s first speech since his victory, he added: “(President) Trump already sounding calmer, less confrontational and more inclusive. Augurs well.”

Using Mr Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ campaign slogan, Katie Hopkins also Tweeted her support.

She wrote: “Thank you America. #MAGA a new dynasty is born.”
