Oscar nominees at the Academy Awards on Sunday are to be given a goody bag worth £76,000 that includes their own plot of land in Scotland.

Hollywood actors including Denzel Washington, Will Smith and Olivia Colman will receive titles “Lair, Lord or Lady of Glencoe” and part of a nature reserve near Appin, Argyll.

However, the titles are only trademarks sold by Channel Islands-based firm Highland Titles. It states: “Please note you cannot buy a noble title. This is for enjoyment purposes only.”

In addition, the gift bag will also include an all-inclusive stay at Turin Castle in Scotland, complete with butler service.

Stars will also receive gold-flecked, chocolate-dipped Posh Pretzels, a deluxe salad-infused skincare kit from Byroe and a limited-edition set of Trust Me Vodka bottles.

The 94th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday.

This year’s awards season has seen nominations for Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story.

The 10 films competing for best picture this year are: Belfast, CODA, Don’t Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog and West Side Story.

Benedict Cumberbatch is among the favourites to win best actor for his role in The Power of The Dog, but he faces stiff competition from other big names including Will Smith for his portrayal of the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams in King Richard.

Will Packer, who is producing the awards ceremony, told IndieWire: “The show will flow, not unlike a movie, in that there will be different themes and a different feel and different energy throughout the night.”

“It will not feel or look or sound like one show for three hours. It’s taking you through the course of this cinematic journey.”

The Oscars will air live in the very early hours of Monday morning on March 28 at 1am UK time.

If you’re a Sky subscriber you can watch this year’s Oscars on two channels – Sky Showcase and Sky Cinema Oscars.
