Piers Morgan tweets 'RIP pollsters' as Donald Trump heads towards victory

Piers Morgan said "RIP pollsters. All of them." as Donald Trump's campaign gathered a head of steam after taking Florida.

In a series of online posts, the former newspaper editor also wrote: "I think you should have listened to your Uncle Piers."

In response to a tweet by Dan Pfeiffer, a former senior adviser to Barack Obama, Mr Morgan wrote: "Nobody been cockier or more complacent than you... should have learned lesson from Brexit."

Mr Pfeiffer had posted online: "It seems fitting that this election cycle will end with a epic case of national bedwetting"

There was a flood of reaction to Mr Morgan's "smug" posts. One person wrote online: "You are an intelligent man and you think this is a good thing. See your doctor to seek a dementia test."

Others were more supportive. Will Ulrich wrote: "I applaud you. One of the few who wasn't arrogant enough to crown Hillary President."
