Quentin Tarantino has suggested he doesn’t support his mother financially after he made a vow not to as a child.

The director, who has won seven Oscars and eight Golden Globes for his hit movies including Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, Kill Bill and Jackie Brown, said he made the pledge to himself after his mother Connie allegedly didn’t support his film ambitions.

Tarantino’s mother, Connie Zastoupil, is thought to be around 75.

The director spoke about an occasion where he says his mother sided with his teachers and scolded him for writing screenplays when he was just 12 in an episode of The Moment podcast.

The 58-year-old said his mother “was bitching at me about that... and then in the middle of her little tirade, she said, ‘Oh, and by the way, this little ‘writing career,’ with the finger quotes and everything. This little ‘writing career’ that you’re doing? That s*** is over.’”

Tarantino continued: “When she said that to me in that sarcastic way, I go, ‘OK, lady, when I become a successful writer, you will never see penny one from my success. There will be no house for you. There’s no vacation for you, no Elvis Cadillac for mommy. You get nothing. Because you said that.’”

The director insisted he had not gone back on his word. “I helped her out with a jam with the IRS. But no house. No Cadillac, no house.

“There are consequences for your words as you deal with your children. Remember there are consequences for your sarcastic tone about what’s meaningful to them.”

During a recent appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher, the director said he would soon walk away from the director’s chair.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which was released in 2019, was Tarantino’s ninth film - and he has long said he would not make more than ten movies.

“I know film history and from here on in, filmmakers do not get better,” he told the host.

“I don’t have a reason that I would want to say out loud, that’s going to win any argument in a court of public opinion or supreme court or anything like that.

“At the same time, working for 30 years doing as many movies as I’ve done, it’s not as many as other people, but that’s a long career. That’s a really long career.

“And I’ve given it everything I have, every single solitary thing I have.”
