Russia has lost another colonel as Ukraine continues to inflict losses on the top brass of Vladimir Putin’s army.

Col. Mikhail Nagamov, 41, commander of a sapper regiment of the Western Military District, died in Ukraine on April 13, it was revealed on Wednesday.

His death was reported by the administration of the village of Suslonger, in the Russian.  Republic of Mari El,  his home.

He will be buried on Thursday at the federal military memorial cemetery in Mytishchi, Moscow region.

He was commander of the sixth engineer-sapper regiment from  Rostov Veliky, Yaroslavl region.

The huge top brass toll now amounts to at least eight generals and 35 colonels amid a haemorrhaging of  Putin’s battlefield top brass.

The scale of the high ranking death toll defies Putin’s claim that his “special military operation” is going according to plan.

The overall Russian losses since the war began on 24 February are believed to be 20,000-plus but Moscow has failed to give accurate figures.

Four days ago it was revealed that Major General Vladimir Frolov, deputy commander of Russia’s 8th Combined Arms Army, was killed in Ukraine and buried in St Petersburg.

He was the eighth general known to have died in Putin’s campaign in Ukraine.
