The internet is full of indulgent home videos posted by parents who think the world is interested in the exploits of their little darlings.

But one latest clip seems to have caught the imagination of the YouTube-watching public, racking up more than two and half million views in just a couple of days.

The video, titled ‘Sadie doesn’t want her brother to grow up’, has gone truly viral and shows five-year-old Sadie lamenting the passing nature of time and struggling with the idea that her baby brother may one day lose his cuteness.

When her mother asks if she wants her brother to “stay little forever”, an inconsolable Sadie replies “Yeah, he’s so cute!”

The tearful child adds “I don’t wanna die when I’m a hundred,” before showering her bemused, but undeniably cute sibling with kisses.

At the time of publication the video had received 2,653,558 views, with thousands commenting and sharing online.

YouTube user Warunee Maskey posted: "OMG I can't stop watching this video. They both are soooooo cute. Love that smile also."

While Richard Staple took a rather more cynical approach to the clip: "I completely sympathize with the child. I would roll over and bawl too. Growing up stinks, having to go to vigorous jobs, pay bills and taxes... Appreciate your childhood and pre-adult life while you still have it."
