Sister of Nicole Brown Simpson: OJ's life was anything but 'conflict-free'

OJ Simpson's former sister-in-law has hit out at him for claiming to an American prison parole board that he led a "conflict-free life."

The disgraced American Football great was cleared of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994 in the so-called "trial of the century."

After yesterday’s parole hearing - in which Simpson, now 70, was told he will go free in October - the stabbing victim’s younger sister Tanya said angrily: "The fact is that my sister has diary entries dating back to, what, 1978 about abuse that was inflicted,’ she told TMZ.

"You know his name, you know his record."

Before being granted parole yesterday, Simpson had declared he was "pretty good with people" and lived a "conflict-free life."

"I've done my time," Simpson claimed to the Nevada panel. "I've done it as well and as respectfully as I think anyone can."

He has served nine years of a nine-to-33-year sentence for an armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas when he tried to seize back some of his own memorabilia at gunpoint.

Miss Brown said earlier that she had to remind herself that Simpson’s murder case acquittal and his 2008 conviction for armed robbery were separate cases.

"It is what it is," she added. "I can’t control things that I can’t change. My only option is to just accept it."

Ron Goldman’s sister, Kim, told ABC News: "With him being locked up, it’s been a chance for us to kind of reclaim some control over our life and have some glimpse of sanity. I’m preparing myself for that to be changing come October."

Her father, Fred, was angry that Simpson would get a second chance at life - unlike his son, a restaurant waiter, who was found brutally stabbed to death at age 25.

"Ron never gets to spend his life doing what he wanted to do," he said before the decision.

"We’ll never get to share his life, and the killer will walk free and get to do whatever he wants."

Nicole Brown, who was Simpson’s ex-wife, and Mr Goldman were found brutally stabbed to death on June 12, 1994 outside her Brentwood, California home.

Although Simpson was famously acquitted of the murders, he was later found liable for their deaths at a civil trial and ordered to pay a $33.5 million judgement to the victim’s families.
