Rapper Eminem has been criticised for using gunshot sounds during his show at Bonnaroo music festival.

Some fans who attended his performance at Bonnaroo festival on Saturday took to social media to share their shock at the sounds with one claiming "there were people in tears."

Others said they left his performance early due to the sound effects.

According to Billboard, many fans screamed and ducked as a series of loud blasts were played.

Some attendees said it was a “bad call” to play the sounds following the mass shooting at a festival in Las Vegas last October.

Bella Lowery attended the show and wrote on Twitter: "Added gunshots to his set. Had to leave. So disgusting and distasteful. Shame on you."

Others have said that the rapper often uses gunshot sounds during his performance.

Last October, 58 people died and 800 were wounded after a gunman opened fire at a country music festival in Las Vegas.

Following the incident, security at music events has intensified with some festivals introducing metal detectors to secure the safety of guests.
