The brother of a teenager who died after falling from a hotel fire escape in Magaluf has paid a heartfelt tribute to his "handsome and gentle" sibling.

Tom Ousby, 19, from Uxbridge, died after falling from the fire escape at the Atlantic Park Hotel in Magaluf, Mallorca, just days before he was due to fly back to Britain after spending the summer abroad.

Today his brother Lewis paid a touching tribute. He said: “R.I.P my handsome, gentle, little big brother”.

It is thought that Mr Ousby had ignored warnings from a local maintenance man not to use the fire escape.

A Civil Guard officer said: “He went inside the hotel shortly after telling the lad not to use the emergency stairway and didn’t see him again.”

Mr Ousby had previously told pals about plans to fly back to the UK just days before his death.

He tweeted: “Magas all good coming home sometime this week tho.”

The teenager was also a talented young footballer who played the drums and had previously modelled for fashion chain Marks & Spencer.

Tributes continued to flood in today for the outgoing teenager, who had spent the summer in Magaluf promoting nightclubs and boat parties.

One friend tweeted: “So sad and still shocked at the tragic news.. RIP Tom Ousby, my thoughts are with your friends & family.”

Meanwhile another added: “My thoughts go out to Tom Ousby’s family! Magaluf can be a great place but these tragic deaths have got to stop!”

And another said: “Whenever I saw Tom Ousby he always wanted a chat and to say hello! Such a genuine and nice guy. Thoughts are with his family.”

A video he posted on YouTube of him playing along to Taylor Swift’s 22 has been watched more than 9,000 times.

Last night, Mr Ousby’s parents were too upset to speak about his son’s death.

A former neighbour said: “He was a polite and friendly young man and they were a very nice family. We can’t believe this has happened.”

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We were notified on August 3 of the death of a British national in Spain and are providing consular assistance to the family at this time.”
