US president Donald Trump has hailed a meeting next month with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as a "very special moment for World Peace."
The president announced he will meet the secretive state's leader on June 12.
Announcing the meeting's date on Twitter, he said: "The highly anticipated meeting between Kim Jong Un and myself will take place in Singapore on June 12th.
"We will both try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!"
New York senator Chuck Schumer said the release of detained American citizens by North Korea was 'no great accomplishment' of Kim Jong Un and warned Mr Trump of striking a "quick" and "bad" deal with North Korea ahead of the meeting in a little over a month's time.
Plans for the summit have been in place since the president accepted Kim's invitation to meet in March. It will be the first ever meeting between a sitting US president and North Korean Leader.

The news comes after the state released three American prisoners following a meeting between Kim and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Mr Pompeo was visiting the north for his second time this year.
There had been speculation that he could be coming back to the US with the three detained men.
The pending summit has sparked a flurry of diplomacy, with Japan, South Korea and China holding a high-level meeting on Wednesday.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said concerned parties should seize the opportunity to promote denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
