An Australian teenager has won the title of Rubik's cube world champion with an incredible time of 5.695 seconds.

Feliks Zemdegs, 19, beat dozens of other so-called "speedcubers" with the traditional 3x3x3 cube to claim the prize for a second time at the competition in Sao Paulo.

He said: "The competition was really, really awesome, well run, the venue was really nice, all the people were really nice.

"The win was also really nice as well. Because I won last time, I was less nervous this time because I had already won one so that helped a bit."

His sensational time, though enough to win the title, falls just short of the world record of 5.25 seconds - which is held by American Collin Burns.

This year's championships, which have been held since 1982, includes a total of 17 different events involving Rubik's Cubes as large as 7x7x7.

Others make competitors complete the challenge with their feet or using blindfolds.
