White House lowers flag again in John McCain tribute

The White House’s flag has been lowered to half-mast for a second time after criticism not enough respect has been shown to John McCain.

It was lowered in tribute on Saturday following the former Presidential candidate’s death but then returned to full mast on Monday.

Mr McCain had been a fierce critic of Donald Trump and there were complaints the White House had not kept the flag flying at half mast for long enough.

Mr Trump has now ordered American flags at Government building are lowered until Mr McCain’s burial on Sunday.

373 arrested during Notting Hill Carnival

Monday night saw the only stabbing of the event, with a man receiving non-life-threatening injuries.

Knife arches were used at the carnival for the first time and 36 weapons were seized, police said.

Commander Dave Musker said he was pleased overall with how the weekend went.

May dismissed No Deal Brexit fears

Theresa May has dismissed fears of a no-deal Brexit apocalypse as she played down the Chancellor's warnings of major economic consequences.

The Prime Minister repeated claims that no agreement with the EU, quote, "would not be a walk in the park but wouldn't be the end of the world", initially made by the World Trade Organisation's Roberto Azevedo.

She added the Government is putting in place measures to ensure it can make a success of no deal and remains confident it can do similar with a good deal.

Mrs May also said Philip Hammond was only highlighting work in progress figures when he published a letter about the potential economic impact on no deal last week.

Police hunt for man after Solihull murders continues

Police have made a direct appeal to a 21-year-old man to hand himself in after the murders of his former partner and her mother.

Janbaz Tarin is being sought over the killings of Raneem Oudeh and Khaola Saleem outside their home in Solihull yesterday.

Detectives said they are making a huge effort to find Tarin as they appealed for him to, quote, “do the right thing” and contact them.

Harry Kane opened the scoring with a header before Lucas Moura struck twice.

Taylor Swift no longer YouTube's record Idol

South Korean boyband BTS have broken Taylor Swift's record for the biggest music video debut on YouTube.

Their video for new single Idol was viewed more than 45 million times in the first 24 hours of its release on Friday.

That has now climbed to 88 million plays.
