The son of actor Ronnie Barker has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with making indecent images of children, after eight years on the run.

Adam Barker, 44, of no fixed address, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates Court charged with five counts of making indecent images - two in the highest category of seriousness.

Barker, the youngest son of comedian Ronnie Barker, was remanded in custody until August 21, when he will be committed to crown court.

It is alleged that a computer seized from Barker's home in 2003 Ealing had thousands of indecent images of children on it.

Two images were level five - the highest category - while 24 were at level four, the court heard.

Barker was interviewed and released on bail until June 2004 but did not return, not even for his parents' funerals.

No plea was entered on Tuesday and there was no application for bail for Barker, who wore glasses and a pale shirt over a white T-shirt.

The 44-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at the same court for a committal hearing on August 21.
