England fans have celebrated into the early hours after a thrilling victory against Sweden at Euro 2012.

The Three Lions looked set for defeat when they trailed 2-1 in the second half.

But they fought back to claim a 3-2 victory which left their supporters delighted as they poured out of the Olympic Stadium at midnight local time.

Joe Hankinson, 40, from Bolton, said: "I never lost hope even when we were losing. It felt brilliant when the winning goal went in. What a belting game."

Manchester United fan Dave Oss, who wore an England wig for the game, said he was "jumping up and down in shock" when Danny Welbeck flicked in the decisive goal.

His friend, Gary Nash, 53, added: "We don't seem to score three goals very often. It was a fantastic occasion."

Around 5,000 England fans filled one corner of the stadium, but they were vastly outnumbered by yellow-shirted Sweden fans.

The 20,000 supporters from Scandinavia were in full voice when victory was in their grasp, but they fell silent as England claimed all three points.

Chants of "we're not going home!" rang out as Three Lions fans packed city centre bars for the post-match celebrations.

Some fans endured a 450-mile journey from England's first game in Donetsk to Kiev, while others arrived in Ukraine after taking charter flights from the UK.
