Man held over police 'murder bid'
Detectives investigating the attempted murder of two police officers in Northern Ireland have arrested a man in England.
The 25-year-old suspect was detained in Shrewsbury on Saturday morning.
The officers escaped injury in the early hours of Tuesday when two pipe bombs, thrown from an alleyway as they got out of their patrol car on the Crumlin Road in north Belfast, exploded yards from them.
While the incident happened in a predominantly unionist area, the attack has been blamed on dissident republicans opposed to the peace process.
The man was arrested in the Meole Brace area of Shrewsbury in an operation involving the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), West Mercia Police and the West Midland Counter Terrorism Unit.
He will be taken to Northern Ireland for questioning.
A 27-year old woman arrested in north Belfast on Wednesday in connection with the attempted murders remained in custody on Saturday. Police said they had been granted more time by a court to question her.
