Teenager accused of woman's murder

A teenager has been charged with murder after an elderly woman died from stab wounds to her chest.

The woman, believed to be in her 70s, was discovered by police officers at a property on Summergangs Road, Hull, along with a man, believed to be in his 80s, at 3.30am on Saturday.

Both people had suffered serious injuries and the woman died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination confirmed she died from stab wounds to the chest.

Police have now charged a 17-year-old with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Hull Magistrates' Court.

The elderly man was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary and was said to be in a serious but stable condition.

The police said the parties involved in the incident were known to each other and the family of the woman who died is being supported by specially trained officers.
