Curlers Eve Muirhead and David Murdoch have the chance to book their place in a Winter Olympics final on Wednesday and ensure Great Britain's most successful Winter Olympic Games.

Women's skip Muirhead, and her all-Scottish rink, will be in semi-final action against Canada at 1400 local time (1000GMT) while men's skip Murdoch, and his all-Scottish rink, are up against Sweden in their semi-final at 1900 local time (1500GMT).

Both British teams are facing very difficult fixtures, with Muirhead pitted against an unbeaten Canada outfit skipped by Jennifer Jones and Murdoch tackling reigning world champions Sweden, skipped by Niklas Edin.

But if Muirhead and Murdoch lead the men's and women's teams to triumph it would be Great Britain's most successful Winter Olympics as they would be guaranteed at least four medals, matching the four won in Chamonix 1924.

Britain already have Lizzy Yarnold's skeleton gold and Jenny Jones' snowboard slopestyle bronze in the bag and victories for Muirhead and Murdoch would guarantee at least two silvers - topping the gold, silver and two bronze won in Chamonix.

If only one of the Great Britain teams win today it will ensure they would at least match their medals haul from Garmisch 1936, when a gold, silver and bronze were won.
