Davies: No need to panic

Jonathan Davies says there is no need for Wales to panic
22 November 2012

Jonathan Davies says there is no danger of Wales reaching for the panic button following their demoralising autumn Test defeats against Argentina and Samoa.

Life is about to get a whole lot tougher for Davies and company on Saturday when world champions New Zealand arrive at the Millennium Stadium.

"It has been a bad couple of weeks for Welsh rugby we know that, but we are putting it right and there is no need to panic," he said.

"We need to realise we have not suddenly turned into bad players, we have just not been making the right decisions.

"We are all very capable internationals, and we need to make sure we get our big runners into the game early on and impose ourselves."

Given recent results, it has come as no major surprise that many Wales fans have taken to social media and vented their feelings towards the players in a no-holds-barred fashion.

Losses to New Zealand, and then Australia on Saturday week, would leave Wales reeling from an autumn whitewash and possibly relegate them outside the world's top eight nations prior to the 2015 World Cup pool draw in London on December 3.

The team were booed off after their two autumn defeats, and head coach Warren Gatland revealed some of that dissatisfaction had spilled over onto Twitter, with several players coming in for criticism from fans.

"The national team is the pride of the nation, but you should not immediately slag it off," Davies added.

"We have done some pretty good things in the last 12 months, and some people have forgotten it quite quickly. I don't look at it (criticism on Twitter), I don't care what those people say. They are welcome to their opinion, but it is almost like bullying sometimes, I have heard it is pretty bad."
