Fusaro will still cherish first cap

Scotland debutant Chris Fusaro insists he will cherish his first match for his country despite the painful lesson dished out by the English.

The Glasgow flanker was the surprise replacement for dropped skipper Kelly Brown as he came in to win his first cap.

The 24-year-old suffered his traditional bout of pre-match nerves as he was forced to dash for the Murrayfield toilets to throw up after arriving at the ground.

But it was England who soon left him feeling sick as they ran up a 20-0 victory after a one-sided romp.

However, Fusaro says he will always look back on his big day with fondness.

He told Press Association Sport: "As soon as we got off the bus and walked through the crowd, that was me off running to the toilet to throw up. I do that before every game but it was even more nerve-racking than normal just with it being my first cap at a sold-out Murrayfield.

"But I just tried to put the occasion out of my mind after that and focus on my job.

"It was amazing going out for the warm-up and soaking up the atmosphere. It was very special and something I will never forget.

"Has it been sullied a wee bit by the manner of the defeat? Yeah of course. No-one likes losing. We really wanted to give England a hard-time.

"I was pretty much spent by the end. It just felt like we were defending wave after wave of attack. That's the harsh reality of international rugby. It's another step up from the club game and it was tiring.

"The result didn't go our way but your first cap is always special. I'm gutted that we lost but I will always cherish these memories."
