Khan looking beyond Garcia clash

Amir Khan is already contemplating more lucrative bouts than his WBC light-welterweight clash with Danny Garcia on July 14 - although the Briton insists he is not taking the unbeaten American's challenge lightly.

Khan has made little secret of his desire to move up to the talent-rich welterweight division. The 25-year-old is desperate to test himself against the very best, with both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fighting at or around the 147lb mark.

"My plan is to move up to 147 and face one of the big names up there," Khan told Sky Sports News. "You've got Victor Ortiz, you've got Manny and Mayweather. There are super names there so I'll be in that mix and we'll sit down with (trainer) Freddie Roach and see what route we're going to take with the big names."

Khan, however, was quick to rule out a fight with Pacquiao, who is also trained by the highly-regarded Roach.

"I'll never fight Manny Pacquiao," Khan added. "We get on quite well, me and Manny are good friends.

"I don't think Freddie would be happy if we fought each other in the ring."

First, Khan will look to get back to winning ways against Garcia, who impressively beat Mexican Erik Morales in his first world title shot in March.

The 24-year-old American is unbeaten in 23 fights, including 14 knockouts, and looms as one of the toughest challenges in Khan's career, with their showdown having been confirmed yesterday.

"Danny Garcia's a young fighter," said Khan.

"He's only had 23 fights. He's unbeaten, he's strong, he's got power and he has speed."
