Leinster ease past Wasps

Leinster's Ian Madigan, right, was in inspired form

Leinster booked a home Amlin Challenge Cup semi-final against Biarritz with a performance of ruthless efficiency in the 48-28 against Wasps at Adams Park.

The fallen Heineken Cup champions were guided to victory on their debut in Europe's secondary competition by a masterful display from fly-half Ian Madigan. Starting because Jonny Sexton is still out injured, Madigan scored 28 points and he showed sharp footwork to score the second of Leinster's five tries.

The Irish province led by five points at the interval and then punished an error-strewn second-half performance from Wasps with Rob Kearney, Mike Ross and Isa Nacewa adding to Gordon D'Arcy's early try.

Christian Wade crossed twice for Wasps, with Tom Varndell matching his contribution.

Perpignan survived the second-half dismissal of Dan Leo to seal their spot in the last four with a hard-fought victory over French rivals Toulouse at Stade Aime Giral.

The home side looked in some trouble when, after Toulouse had scored a converted try to move to within five points at 24-19 down, the Catalan giants lost Leo to a red card in the 64th minute.

However, Toulouse were unable to make the most of their numerical advantage and late penalties from James Hook and Romain Terrain put Perpignan out of reach and into the last four, where they will meet either Bath or Stade Francais later this month.
