Rain holds up play at Wimbledon again

More rain disrupted play at Wimbledon

Persistent rain caused yet more delays at Wimbledon as fears of a major backlog increased.

Play began an hour early at midday on Centre Court and Court One, in the hope of clearing some of the matches that were due to finish on Monday, but rain started falling almost immediately.

The covers came on and matches on the outside courts also came to a halt. The forecast for the afternoon was for yet more rainfall.
