Westwood still leads Masters

Overnight leader Lee Westwood missed a seven-foot birdie chance on the first hole of his second round at The Masters today.

He then pulled his drive down the next into the left-hand trees like 2010 Open winner Louis Oosthuizen, but luckily did not run into the creek and escaped with a par five.

For a moment he was joined by American Jason Dufner, but the man who lost a play-off for the USPGA Championship last August - after leading by five entering the closing stretch - then double-bogeyed the short fourth.

That left Westwood, who failed to hole from 18 feet at the second and 15 feet on the third, one ahead of Peter Hanson and Ben Crane, who did birdie the second.

Ian Poulter moved into contention at two under, three behind, with birdies at the second and fifth, while Jonathan Byrd had a hat-trick of birdies from the second to be part of the group on three under.

Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, resumed with a par four - two shots better than he managed on the hole in his opening one-under 71.

The 22-year-old's approach off a perfect drive was right at the flag, but landed on the ridge just short of the flag and rolled back over 20 feet.
