In Paris of all places, with perhaps more fashion experts to the square mile than any other city, it was transparently a faux pas too far.

Victoria Beckham yesterday gave passers-by more than an eyeful of a figure looking remarkably trim just two months after giving birth to third son Cruz.

The Beckhams were in France to celebrate Victoria's 31st birthday. And as she and David strolled hand in hand along the street, they were clearly enjoying their shopping spree among the designer stores of the world's fashion capital.

But perhaps the former Spice Girl might have sought a little more advice before venturing out in a see-through skirt that left little to the imagination.

An onlooker said: 'I didn't know where to look. Everyone realised who it was straight away, but when we saw what she was wearing everyone looked away - out of politeness more than anything.

'It's usually David who is known for his fashion faux pas. But this time it was Victoria who was left wanting. She was just a few stitches away from literally celebrating her big day in her birthday suit.'
