Actor falls for Bollywood honey trap

It could be something from the plot of a Hollywood blockbuster.

A villain attempts to seduce a vulnerable young actress on the casting couch, only for his dirty deeds to be exposed in a sting operation by an undercover hack.

But this was not a script for the latest Julia Roberts offering - it is the true tale of a Bollywood actor snared in a classic honey trap.

Shakti Kapoor, famous for playing on-screen villains, has been caught on tape asking a journalist posing as an aspiring actress to sleep with him.

The 40-minute video, which India TV said was taken earlier this year, shows Kapoor promising the reporter he will put her through acting and dance classes before introducing her to directors.

He then cuts to the chase, saying: 'I want to make love to you... and if you want to come in this line of business, you have to do what I am telling you to do.'

The tape has outraged Bollywood which is wellknown for its conservative views - even a kiss on the lips is too racy to be screened.

The Film and TV Producers' Guild said it is advising members 'not to engage Shakti Kapoor in any work.'

But Kapoor, who has made more than 300 movies, claims he has been framed by political opponents and has threatened to sue India TV.
