Supermodel Linda Evangelista famously said she wouldn't get out of bed for less than $10,000.

Now it seems Beyoncé Knowles has raised the stakes to £2million.

The singer was paid a seven-figure sum to roll around on a sofa to promote a new fragrance by designer Tommy Hilfiger. She admitted: 'It is the easiest job I have ever had. I spent the day lying on a couch.'

The TV and magazine shoot shows 22-year-old Knowles lounging around and singing the Rose Royce classic Wishing On A Star.

Hilfiger, 53, insisted the star was worth every penny, saying: 'Not only is she talented and beautiful, she is sophisticated, intelligent and charming.'

Fellow pop singer Christina Aguilera is also laughing all the way to the bank after pocketing £200,000 to open the Harrods sale yesterday.

Following in the footsteps of Joan Collins and Victoria Beckham, Aguilera sent fans into a frenzy when she arrived in an open, horse-drawn carriage.

Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed was so keen to clinch the 23-year-old's support that he flew her to London on his private jet from her home in California.

But that still wasn't enough to keep her sweet - the diva had a few more requests.

According to reports, Aguilera, who stayed in Mr Al-Fayed's penthouse, asked for ten bottles of mineral water at room temperature, a selection of herbal teas, organic milk, soy cheese, fresh fruit platters and non-vintage Veuve Clicquot Champagne.

Satisfied, she turned on the charm in a Marilyn Monroe-style white strapless dress and black patent-leather shoes. She told shoppers: 'I have heard there are some really good bargains, so good luck shopping.'
